In a recent interview with a renowned publication, Bernardin Katić shared his journey of linking Osijek to the global IT market. As the owner of an international company and the organizer of one of the most prominent IT events in Eastern Europe, Bernardin has become a pivotal figure in the region’s entrepreneurial and technological landscape.
From Local Beginnings to Global Impact
Bernardin’s passion for computers started at the age of eight, leading him to pursue electrical engineering in Osijek and informatics in Stuttgart. In 1992, he founded his company, initially focusing on software for travel agencies before expanding to various other applications. A significant milestone came in 1996 when the company specialized in financial institution applications, partnering with a Swiss firm and attracting numerous Swiss banks as clients.
A Distributed Team with a Unified Vision
The company now has 20 employees spread across Osijek, Belgrade, Zurich, Lugano, and Tallinn. Despite geographical separation, they maintain a strong sense of unity through regular team-building activities. Bernardin emphasizes the importance of collaboration and friendship within the team, offering flexible work arrangements to ensure employee satisfaction and productivity.
Championing IT Events and Innovations
Proudly owning two major software products, Insa for financial institutions and KORTO for secure document management, Bernardin’s company also organizes the annual KulenDayz IT conference. Now in its 16th year, KulenDayz attracts hundreds of tech enthusiasts, with expectations of around 1,000 participants this year. The event features over 85 presentations and special programs for children and business users, reinforcing Osijek’s position on the global IT map.
